After seeing the >$2,000 cost, plus subscription fees of high-end trainers like the Peloton, I decided to see what more economical options were available. This is the Blackburn Trackstand – a simple, quiet Mag trainer. $120 on Ebay. Use your existing bike (my wife’s here – no clips required). I just change the bike’s gears to vary the resistance.

Equally important, there’s a new service from https://cms.bikethe.world/ with its Open Road app. This has high res videos of all the famous bike rides such as Mt. Ventoux, Alpe D’Huez etc. I watch the video on my PC (you can adjust the speed) and just change gears as the mountain grade changes. The PC app is free right now.
